Kenneth Saunders
Director, DC Office of Human Rights
His extensive experience spans government and non-profit sectors, including a previous stint as Director of the OHR under Mayor Anthony Williams and most recently returning as Associate Director of Enforcement. This experience grants him a deep understanding of the office's mission and the challenges faced in ensuring D.C.'s residents have equal access to opportunity.
A skilled leader, Saunders has demonstrably built strong teams, exceeding twenty employees at Fairfax County Office of Human Rights and Equity Programs. His impact wasn't limited to leadership; he championed the development of county-wide training programs to prevent discrimination and ensure compliance with accessibility laws.
Innovation is another hallmark of Mr. Saunders' achievements. He spearheaded the creation of the first Fair Housing Training Academy in collaboration with HUD. Additionally, his efforts led to the implementation of the District's first Language Access Program. These initiatives underscore his commitment to creating a more inclusive D.C.
Further recognition of his dedication came from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, where he was selected to participate in their Executive Session on Enforcement of Human Rights Standards.
Combining his legal expertise (Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University College of Law) with his leadership experience and unwavering passion for equal rights, Kenneth Saunders brings a strong foundation to lead the OHR.
