The DC Office of Human Rights (OHR), the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD),and the Equal Rights Center (ERC) will host the District’s 10th Annual Fair Housing Symposium from 9 am to 4 pm on Thursday, April 28, 2011.  The event will be held at the True Reformer Building at 1200 U Street, NW.

Held in celebration of National Fair Housing Month, this year’s theme is “One City, One Community!” The symposium is an educational forum for public and private fair housing advocates, community-based organizations, residential rental professionals, residential lending professionals, fair housing advocates, government and non-government direct service providers and all those interested in learning more about Fair Housing.

Mayor Vincent C. Gray will provide opening remarks and Tom Perez, Assistant Attorney General (DOJ), will provide the keynote speech.  The agenda for the 2011 Symposium is divided into two segments.  The morning portion includes a panel discussion titled “The State of Fair Housing” paneled with topic experts to inform the audience on current fair housing issues such as: advocacy, legislation, discrimination statistics and the impact of regional issues on the District.  In order to have participants engage in meaningful discussions, the afternoon segment titled “Fair Housing: Many issues, one city” is designed to be interactive.

The Symposium is free, open to the public and both breakfast and lunch will be provided.
