The DC Office of Human Rights (OHR),along with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), are hosting a virtual training session on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 7:00-8:30 PM. This training is focused on empowering new parents by helping them understand their rights under the DC Protecting Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (DCPPWFA) and EEOC’s Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA). Participants will receive comprehensive information about their tights and responsibilities under these significant laws through this training.
The session will cover the following key aspects:
- General overview of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA): Explore the PWFA and the role of EEOC in investigate and enforce complaints filed.
- Overview of OHR and Their Enforcement Process: Learn about the role and functions of OHR, including how it supports and enforces anti-discrimination laws in the workplace, and how can file grievances and what steps are involved in the resolution process.
- Details of the DC Protecting Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (DCPPWFA): Along with additional relevant laws, gain insights into the provisions of the Act, such as the rights to request reasonable accommodations for pregnancy-related needs and protections for chest/breastfeeding at work.
