BusinessTraining Series: Unemployment Anti-Discrimination Act
Effective October 1, 2015, the Unemployment Anti-Discrimination Act prohibits discrimination in employment by DC employers on the basis of an individual’s status as unemployed. This prohibition includes considering an applicant’s status as unemployed when making determinations in hiring. The DC Office of Human Rights (OHR) accepts and investigates complaints that allege violations of this Act, and when violations are found, monetary penalties can be imposed.
