In celebration of Fair Housing Month, we are bringing together partners to host virtual presentations every Friday throughout April. These sessions will focus on fair housing protections and resources available in DC, giving you insights into your housing rights and available support.
Webinar Schedule
- Week 1: Introduction
- Friday, April 4, at 11 am
- The Office of Human Rights (OHR) will kick off the series by presenting the DC Human Rights Act, fair housing laws, and the process for filing housing discrimination complaints.
- Week 2: Tenancy Screenings
- Friday, April 11, at 11 am
- The Equal Rights Center (ERC) will discuss local and federal protections related to tenancy screening policies and share best practices for screening applicants.
- Week 3: Accessibility
- Friday, April 18, at 11 am
- The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and the Office of Disability Rights (ODR) will present affirmative fair housing marketing and ADA accommodations, with practical examples regarding service animals, parking, structural changes, and accessible housing units.
- Week 4: Source of Income
- Friday, April 25, at 11 am
- The Office of the DC Attorney General (OAG) will explain its enforcement of fair housing laws, detailing how its approach differs from OHR and providing information about Source of Income discrimination.
