The Office of Human Rights and the DC Commission on Human Rights wish to invite you to the 2023 Annual Human Rights Award Ceremony on December 7, 2023, starting at 5:30 PM at the Old Council Chambers, located in the Marion S. Barry, Jr. Building, 441 4th Street NW. This is an in-person event and will have light refreshments served.
Our Annual Awards Ceremony honors the recipients of the Cornelius R. ‘Neil’ Alexander Humanitarian Award, designed to honor the recipient’s lifetime contributions to the protection of many of the 23 traits protected under the DC Human Rights Act of 1977; the Emerging Leader Award, reserved for young people under the age of 30 whose work touches one or more of the protected traits; and a Community Service Award to an organization that has demonstrated its leadership towards the protection and promotion of one or more the protected traits or other emerging human rights issues.
In partnership with the Office of Disability Rights, the Mayor's Office of Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing, and the Department of Behavioral Health, this year’s theme will especially honor the exceptional individuals and communities dedicated to improving the lives of people with physical and mental disabilities.
Please RSVP by December 1, 2023. ASL interpretation will be provided. However, please email [email protected] for any accommodations or questions.https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2023-commission-on-human-rights-awards-ceremony-tickets-753439446667?aff=oddtdtcreator
