The Youth Bullying Prevention Task Force was established to create a comprehensive model policy to be used as a framework for District agencies in adopting tailored anti-bully policies to protect youth in the District. Created under the Youth Bullying Prevention Act of 2012, the task force created the District's Youth Bullying Prevention Model Policy, which was presented to Mayor Vincent C. Gray in January 2013. The policy is unique in its focus on citywide bullying prevention, and aims to eliminate bullying in schools, public libraries, parks, recreation centers and other public spaces. The Youth Bullying Prevention Act of 2012 became DC Law L19-167 on September 14, 2012.
The Task Force was made up of District government agencies, teachers, school administrators, parents, mental health professionals, direct service providers, advocates, community members and youth.
